EARN MONEY TO PAY TUITION!!

Scrip is a term that means "substitute money".

When our families purchase scrip, we are purchasing negotiable gift certificates that are used just like cash. The scrip is issued by national and local retailers where many of us already shop. These merchants want to support non-profit organizations, and in return ask you to support them by shopping with scrip at their stores. We can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, we earn revenue for St. Anthony Home & School.

How scrip generates revenue for you.

The Great Lakes Scrip center acts on behalf of churches, schools and other non-profit organizations to purchase large amounts of scrip from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers. Because the scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount. St. Anthony Home & School buys the scrip cards from Great Lakes Scrip Center at a discount, and re-sells the certificates for full face value. The bulk of the discount - from two to fifteen percent or more - is retained by St. Anthony Home & School as revenue. This revenue is used in part as tuition assistance for families participating in the program (50% of the revenue) and as funds to operate St. Anthony Home & School (50% of the revenue).

Scrip is "shopping cart fundraising”.

The reason for the effectiveness of scrip is simple: families generate revenue through purchases they would make anyway. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline can be purchased with scrip. An organization of 150 families easily spends between one and two million dollars per year on food, clothing and other essentials. If these families use scrip for these purchases, they can raise as much as $40,000 to $80,000 per year for their organization --without spending an additional penny.

Retailers like Scrip, too.

Families who purchase scrip certificates actively support the retailers who participate in this program. The reason is simple… they know that buying from a scrip participating retailer provides a steady source of revenue for their church, school, or non-profit organization.

Paper Recycling Program Details

Dear Friends,

We are beginning a "PAPER RECYCLING PROGRAM" at our school. GREEN FIBER is the company which will supply the bin; the company will be responsible for the upkeep and timely servicing of the paper collection bin. Again, please look for and read the types of paper products that are listed as ACCEPTABLE; ALL NON-ACCEPTABLE products found in the bin will be rejected and will have a negative effect on our profits. The bin will be placed on the back parking lot near the clothing bin. We will invite the entire parish to cooperate with us in the recycling program. St. Anthony's will receive $25 per ton.

Here are some guidelines for desired recyclabes:

Acceptable
Clean, dry newspapers, magazines, phone books, catalogs, junk mail, paperback books
Office paper, homework, documents, blueprints, mixed paper, bulletins
Shredded paper (plastic bags removed)
Empty dry food boxes and soda cases (collapsed), paper towel rolls, paper cards, posters
Cardboard Boxes - must be broken down

NOT Acceptable
Aluminum, metals, plastic, plastic bags, glass
Garbage

From Green Fiber:
Thank you for your interest and support in joining our paper recycling program in the Metro East Area.

We will take virtually any clean material with paper fiber in it! Unfortunately we cannot accept paper items that are wet or contaminated with food. Please make an effort to keep the bin lids shut, especially with rain or snow in the forecast!

Papers in bags are great, but please remove plastic bags from papers before placing them in the recycling bins.

We appreciate your consideration and care as you implement this program. Call (618) 482-3936 with any suggestions or questions you may have for us. If you desire a seminar about how this material is made into insulation and "where it goes", we are glad to provide an instructor.

Don’t Know What to Do With Your Old Clothes? Don’t Want to Have a Yard Sale?

Merchandise Pickup Service

Do you have clothes piling up that you don't wear anymore? Drop them off in the clothing drop box behind St. Anthony church. The proceeds are donated to The Mission.

Catholic Charities has teamed up with MPS to raise funds through a collection of used clothing. MPS provides a clothing drop box at several local sites to offer individuals in our community another great opportunity to help support the programming at Catholic Charities.

Clothing is picked up weekly by MPS and sent to locations across the nation where there is a need. Please bag all clothing donations and secure the bag with a tie. There is no out-of-pocket expense to individuals making the donation. Your donation enables the agency to continue to offer services such as MedAssist, Professional Counseling Solutions, Foster Care, and Crisis Assistance. Our site is located behind St. Anthony Church.

The cookbooks have arrived! They are $10.00/ea. All of the funds raised from the sale of the cookbooks will go to the playground fund. We have the first two phases installed; we just have one more to go. Right now we have a few fundraiser's planned and have written a grant to try to raise some money for the last phase. We need $12,500.00 to get it done. Anyone wanting to donate to the playground fund can contact me or the school office. Contact me at hoevyjc2 <at> fidnet <dot> com. Thanks for all of your help and support.
