First Grade May It is hard to believe that another school year is coming to an end.  This year has gone by so fast, and the students have grown and changed so much in this short time.  The next two weeks will be very busy ones for the first graders.  They have almost completed their first grade journey and will soon begin the transition to second grade.  I am proud of all the hard work that the children have done this school year.  They are a terrific group of boys and girls.   Marvelous May Handwriting- continue working on 2nd grade paper Phonics- consonant digraphs, suffixes, prefixes, and contractions English- adjectives, adverbs, and creative writing Reading- predicting outcomes, main idea, and identifying story elements Religion- the Holy Spirit, and the sacraments Math- facts families, geometric shapes, and review of money and time Science- weather systems Social Studies- reading maps, and  community helpers   Dates to Remember May 9- 8:00 AM All School Mass 7:00 PM Family Dance May 12- Golf Tournament- NO CLASSES May 13- 6:30 PM Home & School Meeting May 14- Fly up Day(visit next years classroom) May 16- 8:00 AM- All School Mass May 19- 3:15 PM Faculty Meeting May 21- 7:00 PM 8th Grade Graduation May 22- 1st grade afternoon at the park 12:00-2:30 PM and Show               & Tell May 23- 8:00 AM All School Mass                LAST DAY OF SCHOOL- DISMISSAL AT 12:00          NOON I would like to thank the parents and students for the memorial brick that was purchased for my dad.  He was very dedicated to the parish and school community of St. Anthony’s.  My family appreciates your generosity and thoughtfulness.
