May 2010 The school year is quickly coming to a close.  It is has been a great year for the first grade students.  I have seen them grow physically, emotionally, and spiritually.  The children have worked very hard this year and I am confident they will do well in second grade.   Marvelous May Handwriting-  writing on 2nd grade paper, writing paragraphs Phonics- suffixes and contractions Spelling- words ending in –ing and review lesson Reading- finish reading book “Wonders”, and main idea Religion- Ascension, Pentecost, and the early Christians Math- geometric shapes, writing story problems, and reviewing subtraction facts Social Studies-  places in the U.S.A, landforms Science- insects and baby animals   Dates to remember May 17- Golf Tournament- NO SCHOOL May 19- Fit for Field Day forms due May 21- Field Day- 8:50 AM- school begins                            9:00 AM- all school Mass                            2:00 PM – school is dismissed                            No Before Care/Yes After Care May 26- 1:30-2:30 PM- Preview Day(visit next years grade) May 27- 12:00- 2:00  1st grade walking field trip to the park/Sonic May 28- Last Day of School- Yes Before Care/No After Care               Award Ceremony- TBA             12:00 noon- Dismissal Happy Birthday wishes to Katelyn. Thank you for a great school year.  It has been a pleasure for me to be your child’s teacher this year.  I appreciate all the support you have given St. Anthony School.  Continue to have your child read throughout summer vacation, and practice math facts also.  Have a safe and relaxing summer.
